The Coca-Cola 600 is Memorial Day weekend
CHARLOTTE, NC – The annual Memorial Day weekend event that many people throughout the area look forward too is the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. This year’s race is Sunday May 27th @ 6 pm.
First ran in 1960, the Coca-Cola 600 is a 600-mile Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series points race, making it the longest race on NASCAR’s schedule. What also makes this race unique is that it changes drastically from start to finish. The first third of the race you bath in sunlight. The second third happens at dusk, with the final third under the lights. Motorists should expect extra traffic around Charlotte Motor Speedway during Memorial Day weekend and on Memorial Day, especially along I-85, US29, NC49, & Bruton Smith Blvd.
