Major ramp in uptown closed for the next month

CHARLOTTE, NC –  Thousands of drivers use this very busy ramp daily in uptown Charlotte, but for the next month or so motorists will have to seek an alternate route.

Construction of the I-77 toll lane project has closed the ramp from outbound/westbound Brookshire Freeway (outer loop) to I-77 southbound (exit 5B). According to the DOT this major ramp will be closed until sometime in December. Traffic on this ramp is heaviest during the afternoon rush when workers in uptown or drivers coming from Independence Blvd. need to access I-77 southbound.

So effective immediately, if you need to access I-77 southbound from uptown Charlotte or Independence Blvd. you will have to use W. Trade Street or John Belk Freeway to I-77 southbound. (exit 1B)
