HIGH  SHOALS, NC –   Severe storms knocked down several trees along U.S. Hwy 321 near High Shoals Wednesday evening that caused the highway to be shut down.

Chuck Roads Traffic received a traffic tip call around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday that U.S. 321 was shut down in both directions near the Gaston/Lincoln county line due to trees blocking the highway. The caller said it appeared as if a tornado had just came through the area. Traffic was backed up for miles in both directions near High Shoals for at least 3-4 hours.

The N.C. DOT has confirmed that the road will remain shut down until approximately 8 a.m. Thursday morning. Motorists in the area should seek an alternate route. Chuck Roads will have updates on this road closure and much more throughout the morning on Good Day Charlotte.
