Charlotte man wins one million dollar top prize from NC Lottery

Abel Abreha of Charlotte says when he’s feeling lucky, he goes and buys a lottery ticket.  ‘When I have a good feeling, I get a scratch-off ticket,’ Abreha said. ‘I usually win something when I do’.

On Tuesday when Abreha had that feeling he stopped by the Neighbors Mart on Lasalle St in Charlotte and purchased a $10 Carolina Millions scratch-off ticket.  He couldn’t believe his eyes when he realized he won the top prize.

He went to claim his prize Wednesday at the lottery headquarters in Raleigh.  He had a choice to receive a $1 million annuity of 20 payments or a lump sum of $600,000. He elected to take the lump sum of $600,000.  After taxes, his total winnings will be $417,009.   He plans to buy a house.
