Charlotte Cobras home opener

The Charlotte Cobras Football team is comprised of 13 public safety agencies in the Charlotte Region and is part of the National Public Safety Football League.  Teams in the league play for different charities.  The Cobras will be hosting the NYPD Finest in their first home game of the season at North Mecklenburg High School in Huntersville on Saturday, May 20th. Admission is $10 for adults and free for children 12 and under. The Charlotte Cobras organization has donated over $115,000 to local charities and individuals since it was established.  The Cobras are currently undefeated.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating a murder in east Charlotte. Officers were called to the 5700 block of Barrington Drive around 6:25 p.m. Monday for a report of shots fired. One person has been pronounced dead.
