CHARLOTTE, NC – Do you ever see something that you can’t stand to look at but can’t take your eyes off of it at the same time? That’s the way I feel when looking at these images.
There is actually a name for it. Trypophobia. According to Wikipedia, Trypophobia is a proposed phobia of irregular patterns or clusters of small holes or bumps. The word is of Greek origin meaning fear of holes. Trypophobia is not a diagnosis in the American Psychiatric Association‘s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, Fifth Edition and it is rarely used in scientific literature.
I have given myself a self diagnosis of Trypophobia. It makes my skin crawl looking at these images, but I can’t take my eyes off of them.
