CMPD to increase seat belt/traffic enforcement for the holiday season

Charlotte, NC – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police has started to increase their enforcement of traffic laws for the holiday season over the past couple of weeks.

Today, a daytime seat belt operation took place from noon-2pm at the intersection of Beatties Ford Rd & Sunset Rd. Officers from the Major Crash Unit, Motorcycle Unit, & division traffic officers participated in the operation.

Officers were specifically looking for seat belt violations, texting and driving violations, along with any other traffic violations.

Here are the results of the event:

  • Seatbelt – 33
  • Tags/Inspection – 12
  • Driving while license revoked – 6
  • No operator license – 3
  • Texting – 4
  • Window tint violation – 2
  • Other – 7
  • Arrest – 1

A total of 67 citations were issued. Two pedestrians were given warning tickets for failing to use the crosswalk.

CMPD will continue their increased traffic enforcement throughout the holiday season.
